This very tired and very worn B-24D bomber is probably at the airfield at Luliang, China. It has been modified, with nose, dorsal, ventral and tail gun turrets removed and those positions capped, similar to a C-87 Liberator Express or C-109 tanker version which had 6 additional fuel tanks carrying 2,400 gallons of fuel.
This is believed to be serial #42-72837, "Nip Nipper," which flew combat missions with 373rd Bombardment Squadron, 308th Bombardment Group from 1 Dec 1943 until it was replaced by newer models of the B-24. Transferred to 14th Air Service Group it was modified as seen and flew transport missions from India into China until July 1945.
