Walter S. Polchlopek, Corporal, was lost on May 20, 1944, over the sea near the south east coast of China, after a B-24 mission to strike Japanese shipping. Originally reported to his family as Missing in Action (MIA) in 1944, his family recieved official an official Finding of Death notification from the War Department over three years later, on 15 September 1947. Mr. Polchlopek\'s family has been kind enough to share his story and pictures with us, and we will present that here.
Walter married somewhat late in life, at the age of 27 in March of 1943, and his wife, Mary was also 27 when they married. Married in Arizona. Their son was born in December 1943.
