After heavy fighting in the city of Liuchow [Liuzhou], from which the Japanese were driven, civilians return to their damaged city. Liuzhou is the second large city evacuated by the Japanese in the Siang Corridor. Nanning fell on May 27, 1945, at which time the Japanese GEA lifeline over Asia was broken.
