L B Kriner

L B Kriner was a gunner on B-24J #42-73315 assigned to the 10th Air Force, 7th Bombardment Group, 9th Bombardment Squadron.  He and the remainder of the crew tragically lost on take off on August 14, 1944 from a Kurmitola, India, on the way to Liuzhou, China. See more on that event here. 

He was the son of Walter R and Bessie Kriner. Born in Carnegie, Oklahoma, June 15, 1924, he moved to Bakersfield, California, in the late 1930s. While a young man in Oklahoma, he was active in 4-H, raising poultry. He raised Silver Laced Wyandottes and in 1934 won first prize in a poultry show.  Later, in Bakersfield, he was given the privilege of leading the flag salute at school in February, 1938. He graduated from the Liberator bomber mechanic's school at Keesler Field, Biloxi, Miss., in November, 1943, and then continued training under training command.

L. B. Kriner is buried at the Honolulu Memorial.
