The photos were taken during a stop over at Chakulia Air Base, India, in the spring of 1943. Richenbacher had come to India to review and offer suggestions on improving efficiency of the transport flights over "the HUMP." At the time Col. Wold was commanding of the 341st Bomb Group, and Gen Haynes was Commander of the China Bomber Command.
